Car Insurance For Young WomenForum - Questions & Answersyoung person car insurance uk?Question: Im almost 20 yrs old, i live in england, my car insurance is 200 pounds a month, as a 2nd driver on a citron zara picasso. i cant get my own car as the insurance will be more as we have 2 cars already (ones my mum that i drive too and one is my dad) if we get a car for me my cost will go up as its more likley for me to drive as its my car blah blah blah apparently young woman car insurance will go the same as young men car insurance too, when will this come into effect??? im a male btwAnswer: Strangely you do not seem to have posed a question here. but... There are some certainties in life. Death, taxes and young peoples insurance costing a lot of money - just the way it is. Seems you may be having the insurance "Fronted" for you by a parent - this is very illegal - see here for details > http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10241769 ![]() Do you think this is fair to young people re: car insurance?Question: I am all for people being treated equally, but statistically isn’t it young men that are more likely to be more at risk of wrapping their car around a tree? I know some women get stick for ‘applying make up’ etc in the car, but don’t men shave in the car as well? (I have seen both to be honest) However, I have yet to read about a group of young women who steal cars and go joyriding, go out at night and then drive home after 10 pints of beer, (more likely a middle aged woman after a bottle of wine who is depressed) or young women who like to ‘race’ in their flashy cars. How do you think it should be done fairly? Because not all young drivers are reckless, how about instead of raising car insurance (as some will still not bother buying any) how about treating them as individuals and the first minor accident that is their fault, or excessive speeding, or drinking and driving, it is an automatic ban on driving for 12 months, or 2 years (depending on the severity of the crime) and the next time – 5 year ban for example? As some rich kids will have their daddies to pay for the insurance will it make a difference to them? Isn’t it more likely to hit them harder if they get an automatic ban? What do you think? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1361750/Women-NOT-entitled-cheaper-car-insurance-men-European-Court-rules.html OWFPED - I am not a young driver!Answer: Young people made a 'rod for their back's (regarding car insurance) when (most) of them decided (as we did) to behave badly on the open road incorporating the examples in your posting and a scaling banning system should be enforced by the courts - although its already in place - its hardly used in an effective way. All young drivers should be made to take another driving test after a blame-worthy accident. That without doubt will make them 'respect' their licence much more. The hospitals/morgues are full of these young people - all have taken 'huge reckless chances' on the road - being egged on by the people that are travelling with them and are guilty of 'killing' their friends or other people on the roads. Any severe blame worthy accident - should result in the guilty driver being banned from driving for a long period of time - no matter what there ages are. The 'little scrapes' we all get involved with ie: 'supermarket car parks' or minor things being the exception. If banning drivers was more 'prevalent' it would make us all 'protect' our licence - instead of this attitude people have that its 'their god given right' to have one no matter how badly they behave on the roads or what their age is. ![]() sob sob I'm too young to get cheap car insurance says the 40y/o?Question: woman in the admiral car insurance advert! Have u seen her!! She's liek 40 and dressed like a 20 year old circa 1999 - she even turns her feet in together to try and act young! I hate her!! (I don't know why, I just doooooo!!!) Come to think of it I HAAAATE the sketchers ad even though it's being ironic... and the one for scented tampons "ooo trippy flowers duuude" - surely having a dickheed saying that will put women off? I still have the flippen "shake n Vac" ad in my head from when i was little aaaaaaaaagh! ![]() How is fair that Males have to pay more for car insurance than a female?Question: Women are worse on the cell phones, applying make up when driving, and young teenage girls all jamming out to jonas brothers and not paying attention. Im 22 (male) with no accidents and drive a sports car (cobalt super charged) and my insurance is 180.00 a month. I have no points, but a girl my age with same scenario would only be 110.00. HOW IS THAT FAIR?????? And yes i have searched other companies and its the same story.Answer: I believe it's the few that spoil it for the rest. There are men and boys who like to show off in their vehicles by speeding. They are risk takers. Then you go with the often fact that they drive more, females take the passenger side usually, and if you drive more you are at risk. Statistically men have more accidents than women (not a judgment call by me here-men drive more). I see your point, and annoyance though. It is unfair, it's allowed sexism and stereotyping. Clumping one sex together is never a fair or just practice. It's the few that ruin it for the majority. The show-offs, risk takers and just dangerous boys who want to impress their girl. The safe drivers, the ones who follow the laws get punished. ![]() |
