First For Women Car InsuranceForum - Questions & Answerswomen want equal rights. then why have cheaper rates for women car insurance?Question: women moan about equal rights. but they won't say anything about women only car insurance because they will be getting a good deal. if they want equal rights then get rid of this women only thing, and why should we open doors for them and let them go first ,Answer: Becasue they have less accidents as they are not so prone to aggressive driving and risk taking. It's perfectly OK for an insurance company to base it's pricing on risk, that's how it works. I think the error lies in believing women want equal rights. They only want equal rights (quite justifiably and correctly) in those area of life where they are currently disadvantaged. However, I've yet to see many OFFERING equal rights in those areas where they are currently advantaged - e.g parenting rights, healthcare access, housing access and support. ![]() Is it fair that two people with identical driving records pay different insurance?Question: Should men be discriminated against? (Car insurance) How about blacks because BEING black is more likely though not necessarily going to have you live in a high crime neighborhood? (home owners insurance) And here's the most extreme I've seen to date: http://www.insurance.za.org/first-for-women-insurance-quote.htm It doesn't matter whether I am get the big end or the little end of the stick, it doesn't seem right to me. I can understand changing insurance rates on the basis of past driving record, but for probable future record? (Yes, I know that homeowners insurance is on the home, not the individual) (Yes, I know that per month, women statistically will claim less insurance payment then men) I know WHY insurance companies do it. I do not know why we LET them do it. I know full well that on average women will file less dollar claims per unit time than men, but this country does not, in general, permit discrimination on the basis of stereotypes ... no matter how valid those stereotypes may be. Do we allow companies to discriminate between men and women when they hire based on whatever statistics the company management may have about who makes better employees (comes to work more often, etc)? No ... we make them operate on the basis of PERFORMANCE. Why do we let insurance companies stereotype us. Doesn't that encourage others to stereotype? Again, I understand why insurance companies do it (they're in business to make a profit). Never-the-less, why do we, as Americans, put up with it?Answer: NO, nothing the insurance companies do is fair. ![]() Why do women get cheaper car insurance, that's stupid and totally discriminatory and plain our racist?Question: In Europe the European courts have already ruled it unfair. google "Cheaper insurance for women ruled unfair" Wtf? Women are horrible drivers. I've only been in one accident my entire life of driving and it wasn't my fault, a WOMAN backed into me as I was passing a parking lot. Apparently that wasn't the first time she did that either. One other time a WOMAN almost crashed into me on the free way, she wanted to get into my lane but apparently she didn't see me and just without using a turn signal just decided to turn into my lane and luckily i was paying attention and was able to break soon enough and she probably came within inches of her back side smashing into my side. it caused me to break suddenly which made the car behind me break suddenly and honk his horn, i honked my horn and the lady in front of me was apparently clueless to the world. Anyways the reason "if this is true because I don't believe it" men might have more accidents is because they're more likely to become drunk. Men drink and drive more, not only that but they probably like to show off more. rates should be higher for people like them, not all men. Gender biases are unconstitutional because that's prejudice. Also it's a total lie that women make less money than men. when i waited tables, the women got all the good tips from men. while i generally just got the minimum tip. not only that but sometimes if i was dealing with another male, sometimes they didn't give me a tip at all especially if they were drunk or some scruffy looking truck driver trying to hit on the other girls. But if one of those hot girls waited on them, they would sometimes give them a tip that was more than the food that they ordered! I think it's all bs. and of course completely racist. Why does america allow this? You know in some countries they don't allow women to drive. MAYBE it's because they're bad drivers!!! For those of you who agree with discrimination. Statistically Blacks and Hispanics commit more crimes than Whites. So should Police target Blacks and Hispanics more than Whites?Answer: Unless you want to pay the same tax rates as a millionaire . . . Unless you want to pay the same for life insurance as an 80 year old guy . . . Unless you walk into a restaurant, and take whatever they serve without complaining . . . Unless you are just as happy wearing a pink party dress to work, as a suit . . . You, too, believe in discrimination. You probably just don't understand what the word means. It means, telling the difference between one thing, and another. Racist, also, you seem to have confused - it means, judging someone by their race. Your post, however, makes you sound like a misogynist. There is FAIR discrimination - like when you order a glass of coke, rather than a glass of sour milk . . . or when people with higher claims as a group, are charged more than people with lower claims (yes, 100,000 women will have fewer dollars paid out in claims than 100,000 men - the spectacular accidents that total cars and cause massive damages and kill people, are much more common to men drivers - women tend to have small dollar claims like the one that hit you). Now, you can either put your big boy undies on and get on with life, or keep whining about it and sounding like a 16 year old. ![]() I rang up Tesco Car Insurance today and they sent me away?Question: Hello, I rang up Tesco Car Insurance today, this women spoke on the phone and her first question was asking for the policy number, and then I asked her a question why they increase my insurance and she said everywhere is the same, they are the cheapest, and then she told me to ring somewhere else to get a quote and then phone us back. Thats a good customer service. What do you guys think about this situation?Answer: Tesco Insurance are brokers. All they do is put you with an insurance company, then claim commission for doing so. If you read through your documents, it should tell you who the insurance company is. It might save some money if you approach the company direct for a quote, either online or by telephone, as you will not then be paying commission to Tesco. It is okay to pay commission to a broker if they are giving you good customer service, but showing that they aren't really bothered about your business is not good customer service. I would always advise people to shop around at each renewal date as insurers constantly change their prices, and while Tesco may have been the cheapest in the past, they may not be the cheapest now. I would try a price comparison web site to get an idea what other companies are charging. If you get a better deal, take it. If not stick with Tesco. The person you dealt with is one of many employees and like everywhere else, there are good and bad employees. You can't assume that the company as a whole is a bad company to deal with based on your dealings with one member of staff. Next time, you could speak to another employee and get excellent customer service. I agree that the cost of insurance across the entire market has gone up though. Insurers make their money by investing. The country is in a financial mess at the moment and insurers are not making the profits on investments that they used to. The cost of car repairs, insurers operating costs and staff wages has also increased. All these increases have to be passed on to the customer. ![]() |
