G1 License Car Registerg1 license car registerForum - Questions & AnswersIs it possible to buy a car with G1 licence ?Question: Hi, I am planning to get a used honda 2000 model .is it possible to buy a used car with G1 licence .I mean is it ok for registering a vehicle ?Answer: You don't need a driver's license to purchase/register a vehicle period in Ontario. Having any license makes it easier, so a G1 works fine. ![]() As a driver with a G1 class license?Question: Hi, I recently got my G1 drivers license in Ontario. When I am driving who am I insured under? Is it automatically the person who owns the car? Or do I actually have to call the insurance and register myself under my parents names? @ skyking does that mean that their vehicle is the only one im allowed to drive?Answer: You are covered under whoever owns the vehicle you are driving. The concept here is "if you loan your vehicle you loan your insurance".... so as long as you are following the conditions of your G1 license then you would be covered by their policy. You are not added to a policy until you have a G2 license. So, NO you do not need to be listed on your parents policy. Their policy will automatically cover you for things like Accident Benefits etc. (ie if you get hurt in an accident, driving or passenger or even walking down the street). Basically because there are so many restrictions imposed on you (ie must have lic'd driver with you etc.) you are not required to be listed on the policy. Once you are able to drive on your own then you are "riskier" to the insurance company and so you must be listed. Hope this helps... ![]() |
