Caught driving alone with G1 by police, what is my insurance going to be?

Question: Ok Il keep this short and straight to the point. I live in Ontario - I have a G1 license - Snuck parent's car out at 1 am, picked up friend, drove around, cop pulled me over (how unlucky) -Got charged with a) Driving without a user with 4 years or more driving experience, including driving past 12 am with another person, and b) Refusing to show I.D - I know im an idiot about doing what I did. The reason why I didn't show I.D is well, its a REALLY long and complicated story, to summarize it, I wasn't thinking straight, I was scared sh!tless. - I do not know how long License will be suspended, I am 99 percent sure it will be suspended at LEAST 30 days. (I have to call them) - My dad talked to an insurance agent, and this is what they thought. - They said that I will not be able to drive anyone's car except for my own once I purchase one with having a G2 liscense. - My insurance will be HIGHLY increased for the next 3 years, DOUBLED in price. Around 10k so my dad sais. My question is, how the hell can this happen? Is this true? REMEMBER this is not fact, just what someone told my dad. I am scared because I am afraid I will not be able to put my insurance under my parent's name anymore. Will I still be able to? I do NOT want my insurance to be doubled for the next 3 years. PLEASE inform me of any information you can spare, tell me what are the possibilities etc. I don't understand.. I thought when you get caught with G1 alone you get a fine, license suspended, and that's it. Nothing this extreme.

Answer: Your insurance is INVALID when your license is suspended. Your insurance rates are determined by your insurance company, not by the court. You just proved yourself a high risk driver. That justifies higher premiums.

I'm a G1 driver and drove alone and got into an accident. What do I do?

Question: I'm a 17 year old girl with my G1 licence. I took my parents car out alone and got into a accident. It wasn't big but it wasn't too small. I got one ticket for unsafe left turn and another for driving without an accompanied adult. I was supposed to get my G2 less than a month. I need to know what happens now. If anyone can answer me I would really appreciate it. Will insurance cover me? If so, when? And how long will my license be suspended for? Answers are needed so please please respond!! Thank you!

Answer: Part of the conditions for a G1 license is that you must drive with a fully licensed driver (with 4 years of experience) who must sit in the front seat with you. By breaking this condition the usual penalty is your license being suspended for 30 days but add the accident and the two tickets your driving rights can be suspended for a full year and this will delay you from getting your G2 next month.. You also need to be worried about demerit points and how many you may be getting for this because if you receive over 6 or 9 you will need to physically turn in your license for this time period and also have to pay a reinstatement of around $150.00 dollars to get your G1 back..... As for the insurance.....that depends on the insurance company and their policies...........
