Women Before Driving Vs Menwomen before driving vs menForum - Questions & AnswersBoyfriends and making friends with other men vs women?Question: I have no friends right now. It’s awful. I used to hang out with men till my boyfriend and I moved in together. I’ve always felt incredibly comfortable around the opposite sex. Anyway, besides nursing school and work, I also attend community college. I want to be educated, and I want to minor in theatre arts. When I started taking classes I promised my boyfriend I’d do my best to befriend other women. (He hates the idea of me even speaking to other men) But they’ve all been SO rude to me. For example, there is this one girl in my acting class. She seems mature and smart. Anyway, we’re working on a scene from Laundry and Bourbon. Even though I missed my first period I made the half hour drive just so I wouldn’t ditch her for rehearsal. We practiced the scene maybe three times before I went to the restroom. When I came back she was talking to a group of girls. I walked up to say hi but they all gave me the cold shoulder. They hardly said anything. They just sat in their little circle. I nicely said ” Are you sure you don’t want to rehearse? She said “Oh no I think we’re fine” What the hell?! I’m not asking anyone to hold my hand but they were rude. Anyway, after two minutes of awkwardness I made up an excuse and ended up talking to my professor (my male professor) for almost an hour. I went home and cried. There are other examples I wont go into. It’s so funny I see girls who are “friends” who don’t even talk. They just stand there and act as eachothers security blanket. I think I’m nice, I’m witty but I have no friends. I don’t get it, I’m probably overly sensitive. I can’t deal with politics that go along with having “girlfriends” Still I get jealous when I see tight knit groups of women. They get dressed up and they go out and they confide in one another. There are other examples. Is there something wrong with me? My boyfriend is just going to have to deal. I’m going to have to start befriending men again. I can’t stand being this alone. Does anyone have any advice for me? (By the way I'm 19, I dont know if age makes a difference)Answer: I can see both sides. I would feel uncomfortable making new guy friends now that I'm in a longterm relationship. I have guy friends, but I've been friends with them for several years and before I started dating my bf. But I see your side too. Girls can be such witches ( for lack of a better term....) ![]() Men vs. Women in competition ?Question: I can't help but notice when it comes to sports or anything in a competitive drive; if a girl beats a guy then peers may definitely say "haha you got owned by a chick" and it's supposed to add that feeling of humiliation to the guy. However if a guy beats a girl fair and square then it's the opposite but he'll get looked down because it's considered "punkish" or "sad" Just recently at school a tall kid was sprinting for a soccer ball but when a girl stopped the ball before he could intercept...a few people were laughing at him :/ Why does this sort of behaviour happen when it comes to male against female in society ??Answer: It happens alot, in a physical sense the male is supposed to be stronger, faster, more capable of physical activity. That's not to say some women can't excel at the same level, it just rarely happens, especially when you consider the upper echelon of sports (the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB). At your local rec league levels though it happens all the time. ![]() |
